As Centre County continues to change and grow, the CCHS is accelerating our efforts to collect, preserve, interpret, present, and promote its complex and fascinating history. We believe that rapid change such as the county is experiencing should be informed by a wider knowledge and understanding of how we got from our beginnings in the 1770s to where we are today. That’s one reason for recently introducing our new Centre County Encyclopedia of History & Culture.
In the year just ended—the second year of the tenacious COVID pandemic—we made much progress. We presented numerous programs of historical significance, in person and online; finished the first phase of our extensive Centre Furnace Mansion Restoration project and re-opened the facility to tours by appointment; introduced the aforesaid new Centre County Encyclopedia of History & Culture; completed our new Website; conducted our annual Historical Preservation Awards program; and offered, once again and in person, our popular Plant Celebration and Stocking Stuffer Holiday Market.
But we need you as a new member to help us move forward. With your support, we can keep Centre County’s history alive, relevant, inclusive, and accessible to the entire community.
Membership starts at just $35 for individuals and $50 for families. In return, you’ll receive our quarterly publication Mansion Notes; a 10% discount on CCHS publications; advance notice of programs and news by email; and discounts on special event admission fees. So please join us!
